Hello and welcome to our website, ParentsGuideToBaseball.com. I am the proud parent of a 14U baseball player who has been playing baseball since he could walk. My family is passionate about baseball, and we have created this website as a one stop shop for all thing’s baseball from tee ball through high school - a parent's baseball guide of sorts. Whether you are a parent or a player, a mom or a dad, there is so much to learn about baseball - from rules and equipment to mechanics and recruiting. Need a baseball bat size chart or a glove size chart, we have you covered. We also include our top recommendations for baseball equipment, training programs, and books.
Much has changed in the world of baseball since the 80s when I played. Select / travel ball has become so much more main stream.
The amount of information, the guru opinions, and the costs can be absolutely overwhelming – Equipment, training techniques, lessons, recruiting, etc. We all want what's best for our player, but how do you wade through it and make sense of it all? Well, that is why we have created this website. Having gone through it as a youth and having my son go through it now, we have spent endless hours researching what it takes to succeed and excel at the sport we love. In the end, we all want what is best for our sons – what gives them the best chance to make the select team they desire, to make their high school team, to get seen by recruiters, and beyond. We have spent endless hours and a small fortune learning and experimenting. Our goal here is to help lessen the overwhelming experience and let you know what we have learned and what we are still learning – what has worked and what has not. Come along on this journey with us.
It is important to keep in mind every player is different. They have different strengths and weaknesses. They have different body types. They learn differently. They develop differently. In baseball, one size does not fit all. Each player has their own uniqueness they bring to the field. Some are blessed with certain talents. Others have to work much harder to reach the same success. As a parent, we can only do so much. As the old saying goes, we can lead a horse to water, but we cannot make it drink. In the end, their genetics, their passion for the game, their work ethic, the right equipment, the right training / coaching, and a little bit of luck will determine how far each will go. We can influence and help with some of this. Ultimately, it is important that we are their #1 fan and that they are having the ride of their life! I hope you are able to learn from our extensive research and many trials and errors over the years.
